Chromecast Alternative Teewe 2 Media Streaming Stick Launched For Rs 2399

Now opens for pre-order Teewe 2 with bundled offers from Airtel and Eros. Bangalore based consumer electronics startup Mango Man has launched an update to its flagship product Dongle. Teewe 2 is a sleeker version of the HDMI dongle, which is almost like a Chromecast dongle, lets you Plug and Play anything on your TV at anytime with the tap of a finger. Teewe is such HDMI streaming stick that lets you stream media directly from your Smartphones, Desktop PCs, Mac and Chrome browser to your TV. Teewe supports any display device that has an HDMI port, and indeed be used to stream videos, music and photos from the oft-mentioned gadgets to the big screen LED start TVs.

Specifications wise, the Teewe 2 is 30% smaller in size, and is powered by a 1.6+GHz dual Core ARM Cortex A9 Processor with a Quad core GPU. Compared to the Dual Core GPU on first-generation Teewe dongle, and also brings with it a 1GB of DDR3 RAM.

In 2014, the company collaborated with Snapdeal to sell Teewe dongle, and this is the next Teewe 2 Media stick partnered with in 2015.

The company claims that improved Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n chip lets the unit stream content without any lag or stutter. Video file formats supported includes mp4, avi, 3gp, and flv, it can also stream media from YouTube. Desktop application also supports screen mirroring as well, Teewe has apps for all mainstream mobile and desktop OSes, including Android, Windows, iOS, OS X and Linux and has a plugin for the Chrome web browser (Extension).

The device however require a 2Mbps Wi-Fi hotspot connection to function, and need a 4 Mbps internet to stream HD videos. No data network is needed to stream media from your PC, or phone over the Wi-Fi network.

Competitors like Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and Google Chromecast already there when compared to Teewe, it doesn’t have multiple apps to manage, or an ecosystem to be locked into for full benefits either, Srinivas said.

Mango Man has tied up with Airtel to bundle 60GB of free data to Teewe customers, provided in 20 GB packages over three months.

Teewe 2 is currently listed for pre-order and will be available exclusively on on May 25th 2015 for Rs 2,399. Pre-ordered devices will get an extended 1 warranty along with the data services, said the company.
