Xiaomi Slashes Redmi 2 Prices, Now Available For Rs 5999

Last week Xiaomi hinted about the price cut for Redmi 2, alongside Redmi Note 4G and Xiaomi Mi4. Finally, today it did that for all the handsets which all users expected.

Xiaomi Redmi 2 is now available at only Rs 5,999 and have slashed prices for their popular budget smartphone lineup, the Redmi 2 by Rs 1000. On Flipkart and Amazon, as well as on Snapdeal, The Mobile Store and Airtel retail stores, you can purchase it at a discounted price.

The Redmi 2 features a 4.7-inch 720 pixels HD IPS fully laminated display with AGC dragontrail glass, it is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, a 64-bit quad-core processor with 1GB RAM and Adreno 306 GPU. It comes with 8GB internal storage out of which 5.75GB is available to the user.

You will get with it an 8-Megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front-facing cam, and it is backed by a 2200mAh battery. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with MIUI v6 skin on top and has a dual-SIM standby with 4G LTE support, WiFi, Bluetooth, FM Radio and more.

Announcing the price cut, Xiaomi India in a press statement said, “Lower costs have enabled us to reduce the price of Redmi 2, and this translates into savings that Mi fans can enjoy.” The Redmi Note 4G is now available at Rs. 7,999 and it could have affected the sales of the Redmi 2 in India.

Xiaomi India slashed the price of the Xiaomi Mi4 16GB model to Rs. 14,999, making the smartphone Rs. 5,000 cheaper than its launch price.
