ASUS Pegasus X002 With 5-Inch HD Display, 64-Bit MediaTek Soc Launched In China

If you are thinking that the $128 Redmi 1S is the only smartphone that makes a hype in the market, then here comes a new competitor from Asus, announced Pegasus X002. Rival to the Xiaomi‘s Redmi 1s and comes with an affordable price tag. With this launch in China, Asus now looks like its trying to deliver a competitor for those devices.

ASUS Pegasus X002 announced as a new smartphone brand and thankfully features neither “fone” nor “Zen” or as expected the next-gen “ZenFone 2” in it as Asus previous offerings.

The budget Pegasus X002 is being priced at CNY 799 over in China availability. Which translates it about the cost of $128 or €105 at the current exchange rates.

The new Asus X002 packs a 5-inch 720p HD IPS display and is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core 64-bit MediaTek MT6732 (Cortex-A53 CPU) processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB ROM, microSD card support. Sporting an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash the Asus Pagasus X002 also poses with a 5MP front camera. It is backed up by a 2500mAh battery.

The Pegasus comes with dual-SIM functionality and supports 4G TD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, and GSM networks. Which is pretty much tailored for China Mobile, the world’s biggest carrier when it comes to subscriber count. And the phone runs Android 4.4 KitKat with Asus Zen UI on top.

Available in Black and White colour options. Pre-orders will start in China today, but there’s been no word on whether we’ll ever see it launched in other markets.
