ASUS finally introduced ZenFone AR (ZS571KL) smartphone as the company’s latest mobile hardware with 8GB RAM, support for Google’s Tango augmented reality programme and DayDream VR software at the Consumer Electronics Shows (CES 2017). Alongside the Asus ZenFone AR, the Taiwan-based manufacturer also unveiled the ZenFone 3 Zoom camera smartphone with a massive 500mAh battery. Here are the full details on the foremost gadget.
About the new ZenFone AR smartphone, it comes with AR+VR functionalities that has been outed by Qualcomm a few days ago, will come in multiple variants; ASUS has also confirmed at least one version of ZenFone AR with 6GB RAM expected.
Like other Tango devices Lenovo Phab2 Pro, ASUS ZenFone AR is designed around machine vision with a camera and sensor module that eventually provide motion tracking, depth perception, and area learning and much more. The ZenFone AR sports a fingerprint sensor at the front embedded in the Home button. It has a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display at a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels screen, which is likely to play a major role when using a virtual reality headset.
The company although adds that the ASUS ZenFone AR packs 79-percent of sreen-to-body ratio, is powered by the high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor that has also been customized for Tango. Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 835 SoC is already there, but the SD821 processor choice for Tango-based and Daydream-ready ZenFone AR smartphone looks dated.
At an event, ASUS confirmed that the company will have exclusive ASUS ZenUI VR 360 degee app support on PhotoCollager, Gallery, and ZenCircle apps. With that said, the Asus ZenFone AR features vapour cooling system to avoid overheating too.
Other than that the ZenFone AR’s camera setup adds 23-megapixel Sony IMX318 module with TriTech+ autofocus system, dual-PDAF, 2nd-Gen Laser Focus, and continuous focus. The rear sensor also supports 4-axis OIS as well as 3-axis EIS technology for video recording alongside support for 4K video recording. For selfies, the smartphone is opted with an 8-megapixel front camera with an f/2.0 aperture and 85-degree wide-angle lens.
ASUS ZenFone AR running on Android 7.0 Nougat will be available in 2017, and the pricing will be announced as soon as the launch date nears. Rest of the specifications includes up to 256GB of internal storage which can further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card in a hybrid SIM slot configuration. Battery package of 3300mAh, USB 2.0 Type-C port, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2 connectivity options also mentioned.

As it’s being touted as the “thinnest and lightest” hardware featuring a mammoth 5000mAh battery, which is the highlight of the newly announced device. The ZenFone 3 Zoom will double up as a power bank and can charge other gadgets.

ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom Specifications
It features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1920x1080p) AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. Uses Qualcomm SD625 SoC and like the ZenFone AR, the company has not revealed full features set of SUKs though, but it has mentioned a top-end 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage description.
Next to speak about the ZenFone 3 Zoom camera aspects, as it comes with a dual rear-facing camera setup, one with 12MP Sony IMX362 sensor, f/1.7 aperture and secondary also 12MP featuring a 2.3x optical zoom – allowing a total 12x zoom. Similar to ZenFone AR, the ZenFone 3 Zoom features a TriTech+ autofocus system, dual-PDAF, 4-axis OIS, and of course, the 3-axis EIS. On its front, the ZenFone 3 Zoom carries a 13-megapixel camera with Sony IMX214 sensor, f/2.0 aperture and screen flash tech.
