Now that all the three Asus ZenFone series have been receiving the latest version of Android OS – 5.0 Lollipop update and the good news here is that, for the Asus’ ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6 users, the company has already started rolling out the Android Lollipop update. More details on how to update your ZenFone to Lollipop is also explained below.
It’s worth noting that the Android 5.0 update for the ZenFone 4, 5, 6 smartphones has started rolling out over the air (OTA). Consumers can also download and install the update through the official Asus ZenTalk forum.
Changelog listed after you updated your ZenFone 4 (A400CG and A400CXG), ZenFone 5 (A500CG and A501CG), and ZenFone 6 (A600CG and A601CG) to Android Lollipop. Includes removal of some pre-installed apps such as battery widget, PhotoFrame widget, Movie Studio, Cloud Print, CMClient, and Magic Smoke Wallpapers.
Nevertheless, the new Android Lollipop 5.0 update brings new lockscreen with removed standalone wallpaper and weather details (1GB RAM variant only); a change to the quick settings/recent app layouts (1 gig RAM variant only); revamped Dialler and Contacts; removal of in-call animation and cover; addition of My Ocean wallpaper, Day Scene Live Wallpaper, TripAdvisor, and Asus Auto-start Service Manager app, and auto-start service manager and also gets improved VoIP phone call functionality and Music function as well.
So far, the LTE-enabled ZenFone 5 variant was the only smartphone to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update and with this roll out to other ZenFone series, Asus’s current roll out contradicts Asus India claims made late last month in a Facebook port where the company revealed 3 to 4 months delay in the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the ZenFone 5.
Finally, its official now, you can update your ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6 to the Google’s latest version of Android mobile OS (Lollipop). With this roll out to its first-generation ZenFones, Asus covers most of the original ZenFone devices.
