Cyanogen based custom ROMs are called CyanogenMod builds which are the most popular custom Android ROMs, has been getting a constant apploase from developers, enthusiasts and Android-dev’s all around. Now that the latest version 12.1 of CyanogenMod OS has finally started rolling out in the form of source code realm and on to actual device builds. How to get it into your OnePlus One? First and foremost, it is to be noted that you handset should be running the current CyanogenMod 12 OS, and supports it, is likely updatable to the CM12.1 version of ROM – based on the AOSP version of Android 5.1 Lollipop. Nevertheless, brings with it the popular custom ROM up to date, seeing how Android 5.1 is currently being seeded to Nexus devices, as well.
Although, Cyanogen developers also promises that the new version is directly updatable over an existing CM 12.0 installation, so no data loss should occur, but wait, still there’s a catch here and that – all third-party add-on zips must be manually updated to run properly. According to the CyanogenMod-related notes, speaks about the partnership between Microsoft and CM team, boiling down to the integration os Microsoft apps and services pre-installed into the custom ROM. Cyanogen however took the liberty of reiterating this along with the new build releases.
Update: As one commenter points out, Microsoft software will not be bundled with CyanogenMod. “We are not bundling or pre-installing Microsoft (or any Cyanogen OS exclusive partner apps) into CyanogenMod.”

New version installation is here, but if you really want it to be stocked, then, its highly recommended to wait a bit, because it is a nightly build and as such rolls out, bugs of all caliber are expected. Advised ti stay away from this for now, and if you rely heavily on your CyanogenMod powered device, you should probably wait to download a more stable milestone build to arrive in the upcoming future.
