LG V30 owners in South Korea are now able to download Android 8.0 Oreo update early via a public beta preview program. While the rest of the world have to wait a little more time.
Now that LG has started rolling out Android Oreo version 8.0 update for those V30 smartphone users in South Korea through LG OS Preview program. As is was the case when the LG V30 launched in October running Android Nougat, made it all the more disappointing one. But today, LG’s track record with flagship Android OS updates has been mightly impressive and made Android 8.0 Oreo update available to all those inside the Beta Preview program.
LG is targeting an official rollout in December for South Korea buyers, with the US and the rest of the other countries expected to follow shortly after. While V30 owners can at least look forward to an Android 8.0 Oreo update very soon.
It seems likely that the rest of the world will have to wait patiently for an over-the-air OTA update during the festive reason. Buyers in LG’s home nation can sample all of Oreo’s goodness by signing up for a public preview program that launched earlier today.
To enter the preview program, users will need to open “Quick Help” app on their V30 devices. Click “LG OS Preview” banner to join. You will get a “Software Update” message when the update is fully available.
In order to gain access to the beta test, V30 owners in the region can register through the aforementioned process. According to LG itself, the new software update should arrive within a month and the company doesn’t appear to be limiting invites to a set number.
However, the Android Oreo 8.0 update will optimize the software for a smoother experience and boot faster, minimize power consumption when the phone is not in use. This includes a convenience additions such as Picture in Picture (PIP) feature allowing users to watch videos and continue viewing images on a small screen when running other apps. It also supports a wider variety of high-quality Bluetooth audio codecs like LDAC codec.
Oreo beta members will be able to submit reviews and feedback using the same app. LG will be monitored ahead of the official final rollout. Unfortunately, the flagship smartphone of 2017, LG G6 misses out the Oreo preview program, no matter what country you live in.
