Gionee Marathon M5 Launched In India: Holds A Massive 6020mAh Battery Package And 3GB RAM On-Board

Smartphone manufacturer’s are hard at their work currently focusing on power add-ons to give their customers a fully-fledged backups when we speak about batteries. The same happened with the Chinese maker Gionee, has officially took the stage in India and introduced its next-generation M series hardware – called Marathon M5.

Priced at Rs 18,000, the Gionee Marathon M5 packs a whopping 6020mAh battery and the latest one comes under the Marathon ‘M’ series of phones. It features a capacitive 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED Plus display. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 64-bit processor with Mali-T720 GPU. The model in India comes with 3GB/32GB memory configuration, compared to the 2GB/16GB variant went officially on sale in China. Further expandable via microSD card slot.

The battery package you will find on Marathon M5 has two 3010mAh units that promises up to 62 hours of standby time even if the gadget has only 5% of power backup left. It has a fast dual charging chips, can also be used to charge other devices like power banks.

The Dual-SIM Marathon M5 smartphone support 4G LTE bands and on one of its SIM it carries a CDMA card. The hardware has unibody metal build design with narrow frame and is just 8.5mm thick (4.75mm edge). The best selling point is its dual-battery setup which is enough to keep the phone running for over 4 days and the company it the first market outside of China, where the device is now available.

In terms of photography aspects, the Marathon M5 sports a 13MP rear camera with LED Flash, 5P lenses, 1080p video recording and houses a 5MP forward-facing sensor with 84-degree ultra-wide angle lens. Connectivity options apart from GSM-LTE, the phone also offers 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, USB OTG.

The Gionee Marathon M5 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop-based Amigo 3.1 UI skin on top and comes in Black, White and Gold colors. Carrying a price-tag of INR 17,999 ($270), the device will be exclusively available via Flipkart starting today.
