Gionee, the Chinese most popular smartphone manufacturer has although launched Marathon M5 in China, and also planning to announce its bumped-up version, the Marathon M5 Plus on December 21st, 2015. Now that the company has launched Gionee M5 lite in its Marathon ‘M’ series smartphone in its home town. Listing on the company’s official shopping website of Marathon M5 Lite is priced at CNY 999 (Rs 10,000 approximately) and US$ 155.67.
What’s the more extreme with the Gionee Marathon M5 Lite seen, would be its battery package. It is backed by a 4000mAh Li-Po unit – rated to deliver up to 40 hours of talk time, 68 hours of Music playback, 3 days of regular usage and 39 hours of standby time. It runs Amigo 3.0 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop, and is a dual-SIM dual standby smartphone with 4G LTE connectivity(Indian bands supported).
The Marathon M5 Lite sports a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixel) IPS display with pixel density of 293 ppi, and is powered by a 64-bit 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 SoC, clubbed with 1GB RAM and Mali-T720 GPU. It includes just 16GB of on-borad storage but expandable using microSD card slot up to 128GB. Paired with 8MP rear camera with CMOS sensor and LED flash, and houses a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper, as per the listing.
Measuring 143×69.9×8.5mm, the Marathon M5 Lite weighs 182 grams and when we speak about connectivity options, it includes Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, Wi-Fi, and MicroUSB connectivity. Ambient light sensor, gravity sensor, and proximity sensors also come housed inside hardware. More over, the Marathon M5 Lite smartphone is made of aviation-grade aluminium alloy.
No word yet on India price and availability. Expected to go on sale alongside the yet-to-be-announced Gionee M5 Plus.
