Micromax Canvas Spark vs Xiaomi Redmi 2


Both the Canvas Spark and Xiaomi’s Redmi 2 features 4.7-inch screens. But the Micromax smartphone has a qHD (960×540 pixels) display, as opposed to the HD (1280×720 pixels) display on the Redmi 2, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2. Whereas the display on the Canvas Spark is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

CPU & Storage

The Redmi 2 packs a Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core processor, and the Canvas Spark is powered by a MediaTek MT6582 chipset. RAM on both the handset are same paired with 1GB of memory and same as it goes with the internal storage of 8GB onboard space, which can be expandable using microSD card.


On the Canvas Spark and Redmi 2 have same sensors – an 8-megapixel rear and 2MP front-facing camera sensors. Its your turn to judge which is the best camera smartphone.

Software and Battery

The Canvas Spark runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, but the Redmi 2 was an MIUI 6 based Android KitKat mid-ranger, but it packs a 2200mAh battery, and the Canvas Spark is backed only by a 2000mAh unit.


On both the smartphones has dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. Nevertheless, here Redmi 2 wins 4G LTE offering, while the Canvas Spark only supports 3G networks.

Price and Availability

The Redmi 2 costs Rs 6999, exclusively available on Flipkart. cANVAS sPARK q380 is more cheaper than its rival, priced at 4,999. Retail on Snapdeal from next week onwards.

Clarification – both the smartphones from Micromax and Xiaomi matches in terms of specs, features they boasts. But the Redmi 2 has a big advantage of LTE support, but with 720p HD display it is worthy enough to compete with the Canvas Spark 3G smartphone, but when considering the display, it got a quad HD (QHD) display, and worth noting that it an Android Lollipop runner after all.
