OnePlus Names Its Custom Android ROM ‘OxygenOS’, Unveiled On February 12

OnePlus for its forthcoming flagships needs a new OS and in order to build their own, named it OxygenOS. Announced and detailed on February 12! Following its December 13 alpha release of its custom Android 5.o Lollipop build, OnePlus has officially detailed about the name of its custom ROM – OxygenOS.

Announcing its developing a separate custom ROM for the Chinese market, called H20S. OnePlus also planning to introduce the world with its new OxygenOS. Both the ROMs are likely to be a bit similar with some region-specific changes. More details can be shared on the unveiling day of February 12.

Oxygen, OnePlus says, is, “all around us. It’s part of us and everything we do. It creates the water that carves out valleys and moves mountains. By itself, it’s simple and pure—a fundamental building block. But, as a part of something greater, it can do amazing things. Just like us.”

The company says the OnePlus ROM aka “OxygenOS” will be “open, customizable, and free of bloat and unnecessary features,” delivering a “bold, powerful, straight-forward experience.”

About the upcoming ROM, OnePlus on their official forum, said:

When we designed the One, we went back to the drawing board, creating a smartphone that offers a bold, powerful, straight-forward experience. And, that’s exactly what we plan to do with our ROM.

However, now it’s clear that the OxygenOS ROM will be used in global markets, and the H2OS used for Chinese market regions. Finally, OnePlus has promised more details will be out about OxygenOS on Febrary 12. Stay tuned!
