Registrations for the Freedom 251 were supposed to start today, but unfortunately the Ringing Bells website isn’t still fully functional. What is all about? Why the company is selling its smart-mobile priced at Rs. 251 is in question. Details in full can be found right after this jump.
It’s the company called Ringing Bells launched in India’s most affordable smartphone, called Freedom 251 on February 17th. Starting 18th of Feb 2016, the booking for the INR 251 priced Freedom 251 phone started and will close on 21st of the month at 8:00 PM.
Ringing Bells has recently introduced its first cheapest 4G smartphone at Rs. 2999 and already has two other feature phones in the market of India. Now with the announcement of Freedom 251, it makes it the world’s dead cheap phone, looks like yet another iPhone clone, when you deeply consider its design. Not only on the exterior (complete with the circular home button) but also the app icons appear to be a ripp-off of what’s found on iOS.
It seems like the Freedom 251 appears to be a rebranded version of another phone marketed in India by New Delhi-based Adcom. Listed on a number of online shopping sites, the Adcom Ikon 4 shares the same looks and specifications as the Ringing Bells Freedom 251, including the appearance of the Apple-like icons.
Hardware key features conclude a 4-inch WVGA (800x480px) IPS display, 3.2MP autofocus rear camera, 0.3 VGA front cam, 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage and further expandable via microSD card, and the 251 priced smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and backed up by a 1450mAh battery.
Interested ones can book the phone on freedom251.com. The deliveries, however, will be completed four months later – by June 30, 2016.
The Freedom 251 is being advertised at a tenth of that cost. And speculation abound that the price could possibly be marketing gimmick. The phone will come with a standard warranty of 1 year, as per the company, “this warranty of the product extends for a period of 12 months for the host unit, 6 months for battery and charger, and 3 months for earphone commencing from the date of purchase.”
