Finally, Samsung and AT&T has announced the Galaxy S6 Active (G890A), the compony’s new variant of the Galaxy S6 with a greater focus on durability and ruggedness. Broke over last month and today AT&T revealed its exclusive grip on the rugged device.
The Galaxy S6 Active updated with 3500mAh battery package and is effectively the same device as the official Galaxy S6. Active specs goes with a 5.1-inch Quad HD ( 2560×1440) Super AMOLED display that touts a whopping 577 PPI. Actively powers at the same Exynos 7420 SoC. Inside, a 64-bit Octa-core processor and 32GB of internal storage do the heaving lifting with 16-megapixel rear-facing and 5-megapixel front-facing cameras for photo duties.
Its an Android 5.0 Lollipop runner and it does also feature a big ol’ 3500mAh battery and a quick launch action button on its left side, so you can quickly pull up a flashlight, compass, or other goodies from the phone’s “Activity Zone.”
The Galaxy S6 Active is rated IP68 for water resistance and dust proofing, comes with camouflage designs. In addition to staying dry in depths of up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes is interesting.
Compared with the Galaxy S6 Active has a whopping 13.48Wh battery, the GS6 ships with a 9.81Wh unit and the GS6 Edge with a 10.01Wh battery. With the glass back of the Galaxy S6 is gone, and the entire device is surrounded by an additional frame to protect from damage. On the Galaxy S6 Active, there are changes, where the single home button and capacitive keys have been replaced by three hardware buttons as well and it also appears that the fingerprint sensor has been removed in order to accomodate the hardware buttons.
The Galaxy S6 Active also meets the Mil-STD-810G standard for resistance to pressure, temperature, humidity, shocks and vibrations.
AT&T lists out the Galaxy S6 Active as “Coming Soon.” but customers will be able to purchase it on June 12. Available to buy in Coma White/Blue, and Grey finishes. On AT&T Next the Galaxy S6 Active set you back $23.17/month with 30 device payments on Next 24, $28.96/month at 24 payments on Next 18, or $34.75/month at 20 payments on Next 12 — all without a down payment. For the two-year agreement, you can extect to hand over $200.
Don’t want the AT&T Next two-year commitment, skip the pagework entirely, which will be offered the Galaxy S6 Active at $695 off-contract price.
