For a limited time during its initial launch, Saygus’s waterproof V2 (V-Squared) handset will be available to buy at $549. Saygus V2 was actually unveiled at this year’s CES 2015 trade show, which was escalated as a super-powered smartphone with all the multimedia features on any current handset to date and stated to be sold at a sub-$600 price tag.
Pre-registrations were already offered by the Utah-based mobile manufacturer Saygus, and started taking registrations and the pre-bookings deadline will be extended to Monday, February 2nd at 11:59 PM MST. The device will then be available for pre-orders at price of $549 (£397, AU$769).
Key specifications of the Saygus V2 would be its 21-megapixel rear-facing camera, two microSD card slots that total up to 256GB for expandable phone storage and is built with waterproof construction IPX7 rating. Also got other features and in particular 13 MP selfie camera with OIS and with the mammoth battery power it will shake the other Android powered smartphones in the near feature.
The Saygus V2 packs a 5-inch Full HD (1920x1080px) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4, is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor. Paired with 3GB of RAM, it also comes with Qi wireless charging, front-facing speakers and built-in Harman Kardon sound technology. The phone includes a 64GB on-board storage, which as mentioned got two SD cards for memory expansion up to 256 gigs (128GB on each). This makes the handsets a phone with 320 GB memory. Backed up by a fully loaded 3100mAh powerbank comes with built-in power saving chip that offers the handset a 50 percent improved battery life. And its a single-SIM handset and the display screen used is the sunlight viewable screen with edge-to-edge borderless screen, the company says.
This is a bar shaped handset with a thick 9.7mm thickness and is 141 grams in weight. The handset supports NFC (Near Field Communication) via Android Beam and uses connectivity options like dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Infra Red transmitter and can be used as a remote controller for TVs and stereos. This is an 4G LTE compatible smartphone.
Actually, the Android 4.4 KitKat based Saygus V2 will cost $549 unlocked (which converts to £364 or AU$705) during its initial launch. Additionally, Saygus is also offering in a few extras for those who pre-register between now and February 2nd: namely an additional battery and a customized, replaceable glass screen protector. Those of you who have pre-registered will receive a coupon code for the introductory package that they can apply once pre-orders opens on Feb. 2nd. This handset is upgradable to Android 5.0 Lollipop later on.
The US based Utah company is not yet planning to launch the handset in India. Expected to be shipped by the end of Q1 2015, and goes official with a cheaper price than similar flagships.
