Sharp AQUOS Xx, Crystal 2 Announced, Successors With New ‘Bezel-Less’ Screen; Details

It’s official now! Sharp has unveiled a new smartphone and the successor to its AQUOS Crystal X, launched alongside the Crystal last year. With a bezel-less design, the so called Aquos Xx continues to flow. Alongside the Aquos Crystal 2, AQUOS Xx were introduced at the similar timeframe. Details on both the Crystal 2 and Aquos Xx specs, pricing can be grabbed right after this jump.


First and foremost speaking about the AQUOS Crystal 2 specifications. Boosts a 5.2-inch screen, keeps the bezel-less look for the display. It is powered by a Snapdragon 400 SoC clocked at 1.2GHz Quad-Core CPU and Adrino 306 GPU, paired with 2GB of RAM, including a 16GB of non-expandable microSD card support. Camera wise, it has a 8MP on its back and a 2MP on its front-facing sensor, and packs a 2030mAh battery. The unit will once again be water and dust resistant. It measures 11mm thick and weighs 154 grams.


The Aquos Crystal 2 offers 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and NFC connectivity. Available in white, black, pink and turquoise some time at the end of July 2015. Pricing for the Sharp AQUOS Crystal 2 hasn’t been revealed yet, and it isn’t clear whether Sprint and Boost Mobile will be offering the new OG replacement version of the phone.

The AQUOS Xx is Sharp’s new flaghsip that features a 5.7-inch full HD (1920 x 1080) S-CG LCD display. The handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor which ships with an Adreno 430 GPU for graphics along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128GB).


The 13-megapixel camera (CMOS sensor) is located on the back of Sharp’s new flagship, and a 2-megapixel snapper (CMOS) is available on the front side of this Aquos Xx smartphone. Measures 146 x 79 x 8.7mm and weighs 16 grams and Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed on this handset, which packs a 3,000mAh battery. The 4G LTE-enabled handset sports a rather interesting design, and looks pretty sleek.

The Aquos Xx will go on sale in June 2015 (Japan for Softbank) and will be available in Black, White and Red color options. The Sharp Aquos Crystal Xx supports Softbank-specific LTE with 187.5Mbps downlink and 50Mbps uplink.
