WhatsApp For Android Gets Updated, Brings Custom Notifications, Mark As Unread And More

WhatsApp for Android has been updated with new features and brings with it plethora of new inclusions, such as custom contacts, group notifications, mute, and mark as unread and of course a low data settings for voice calls to the WhatsApp Android app. Details and download links can be found right below.


First and foremost talking about the WhatsApp’s allows user to assign custom notification sounds, virbration length, alert LED light and popuup notifications and call ringtones for each and every contact you assign. The update for WhatsApp also allows Android users mute the chat for a time period as well. Now that it allows user mark a conversation as unread by simply tapping and holding on any message pane until you get a ‘Mark As Unread’ option, which adds a green dot indicator in front of the Chat. Notably, this feature does not change the read messages status without a Chat.


Next one which Android WhatsApp users got is the update introduced a new low data options for voice calls. Users will need to head to Chats and Call Settings t enable the ‘Low Data Usage’ option during a WhatsApp Call.


Finally, WhatsApp now updated its service with Google Drive backup and restore option. The latest WhatsApp v2.12.194 APK is now available to download, and not on the Google Play Store, but can be grabbed from the officail website here (version 2.12.197).
