Group Limit On WhatsApp Increased To 256 From 100

The WhatsApp Group limit was actually increased from 50 to 100 back in 2014 and today it see again an jump in that limitations, as the Facebook-owned Instant Messaging app’s group has onceĀ  again increased to 256. WhatsApp new feature is currently available only in the beta version 2.12.429 of WhatsApp for Android or later, and expected to roll out for other users and platforms soon.

You can now download the latest version 2.12.437 of WhatsApp from the official website right away for those eligible Android and iOS users.

This could be another jump made by WhatsApp to increase its groups limitations, and that’s made just after announcing it will no longer charge $1 subscription fee for using the service last month.

Telegram, WhatsApp rival has also introduced Supergroups with a limitation of up to 1000 members back in 2015 year and standard group of Telegram supports up to 200 members already.

WhatsApp has reached its target of gaining 1 billion monthly active users and the company’s co-founder and CEO Jan Koum said, 2 billion messages were sent per day on the messaging platform, over 1.6 billion photos were shared and 250 million videos watched, 1 billion groups already in existence and the service now supports 53 languages as a whole.
