Pre-orders for the YotaPhone 2 in China goes live and after its US launch, has officially hits the Chinese market. Priced at CNY 4,888 (equivalent to a hefty $788/€718) and the dual-display smartphone has been listed by the manufacturer and the cost applies to both the black and white versions of YotaPhone 2. This is the second generation YotaPhone, which is by far being the Russian manufacturers initiative Yota Devices which has now partnered Chinese firm JieLan to introduce this new dual-screened YotaPhone 2 in the country. Already up for sale in Europe for EUR 699 and GBP 555 in the United Kingdom. In India, YotoPhone 2 is expected pretty soon.
The YotaPhone 2 has a 5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) AMOLED first display, and the secondary screen is a full-touch 4.7-inch e-paper display with qHD ((540×960 pixels) resolution. Notably, the e-paper display offers up to 50 hours of battery life when reading on the always-on display.
Under the hood, YotaPhone 2 runs Android 4.4 Kitkat and in future updated to the latest version of Android Lollipop OTA and is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, paired with 2GB of RAM. Custom software and UI for the E-inck screen is also centered, bundled in what is called the YotaHub. It include new ultimate apps like YotaRemote for controlling a smartTV over WiFi, a new Gmail widget, improved YotaNotes with Google Drive integration and YotaSports (powered by EuroSport), which eventually pulls live match scores and other features.
Camera on the YotaPhone 2 flaunts an 8MP auto focus rear camera with LED flash, 1080p full HD video recording and 2MP front facing shooter. Supports 4G LTE / 3G, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n /ac, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS w/A-GPS + GLONASS connectivity options and it packs a 2550mAh battery with wireless charging tech. And its pre-loaded with social networks and messengers (Weibo and WeChat). iReader will get you books to read on the back display.
