Here you go Android folks! A new Google Play Store update is available to download in APK format to install on your Android device right now. Enjoy millions of the latest Android apps, games, music, movies, TV, books, magazines and more, anytime, anywhere, across your devices with immediate effect.
This release carries a version number 9.0.15, isn’t currently being rolled out over-the-air, meaning this APK is the only way to get access to the improvements. Otherwise not recommended, because it isn’t released to everyone as a standard update and is visible to beta testers.
One of the best things to note in the version of the Play Store is that it has taken a relatively large leap forward in terms of versioning. What features you can find with this is that the Google Assistant app provides another way to launch the Assistant that’s already available on your phone. It allows you to quickly access your Google Assistant with one app. You can still access your Assistant by pressing and holding down your Home button or by simply saying “Ok Google.”
The Google apps also keep you in the know about the things you care more. Find quick answers, explore your interests, and get a feed of stories and updates on topics that really matter to you. The currently live Play Store version is sitting on version 8.x, whereas this APK seed takes it directly to version 9. That generally means that than being a simple incremental update with minor under-the-hood improvements we can realistically expect there to be a number of decent enhancements and additions which warrant the big jump in version number.
Earlier this week we have talked about Google is planning to introduce Android Oreo (Go edition) phones alongside Android One, and also discussed the facts on what the search giant is looking forward to its voice assistant feature Google Assistant, and Play Store. This has resulted in the latest Play Store still being in a beta format and therefore not available as an (OTA) download and installation.
Google itself hasn’t released any information on when it plans to make Play Store version 9.0.15 available to public, then. For those who are interested with an Android smartphone or tablet, the logical jump from version 8 to version 9 is ready to download the APK, and get it installed onto that device manually and actually fully bypass Google’s release roadmap.
About what new features, functionality, or overall improvements have been added to Play Store version 9.0.15? Google has previously been testing a new user-interface which makes searching for apps and content a lot easier and more efficient in the Play Store but this has been present in previous public releases of the Store. This new interface (UI) has only been available on newer smartphones running Android Nougat and Oreo, so it could be that we are sure to witness that rolling out to additional devices. Only time will tell.
