Apple Cars With iPhone X, 8, 8 Plus Compatible Wireless Chargers List Is Here

Apple has officially added wireless charging capabilities to the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the bezel-less OLED iPhone X. The acquisition means that there are a huge number of wireless chargers out there that will work efficiently with those smartphones thanks to their adherence to the Qi standard.

The aforementioned also means that the new iPhones will charge wirelessly when placed in some cars thanks to the inclusion of Qi-compatible charging mats built into them. But again, which cars are those? Well, we now have official word from Apple says it in this regard.

The company has posted a support document on its website that outlines exactly which cars will charge iPhones without the need for any cables. According to the company, the wireless chargers built into latest 2017 and 2018 model cars made by the following ten manufacturers should charge the new iPhones just fine:

  • Audi
  • BMW
  • Chrysler
  • Ford
  • Honda
  • Mercedes-Benz
  • PSA
  • Toyota
  • Volkswagen
  • Volvo

But when the iPhone 8 Plus taken into consideration, things may get a little dicey to its sheer size. Apple is keen to remind users that if the iPhone 8 Plus is too large for the car wireless charging, it will not be able to take advantage of its capabilities regardless of the model of car being used.

Some automotive wireless chargers have physical size constraints and might not fit every phone. If you’re planning on buying a car with a wireless charger, make sure that your iPhone will fit in the charger first

In Cars

Just to look even further on this matter, there are four other interested manufacturers that have wireless charging capabilities in their cars but only across the 2018 models thanks to their new-found inclusion of Qi compatibility. Those are Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC. Of those four, only the nine cars outlined below actually include Qi-capable chargers.

  • 2018 GMC Terrain
  • 2018 GMC Yukon
  • 2018 GMC Sierra
