Apple Sends Out Invites For March 27 Spring Event “Lets Focus On Creative New Ideas For Teachers and Students”

Hopefully, we see new iPads, stereo HomePads and something special for education lead speculation as Apple sending out invitations for a March 27 Spring media event.

With all the attention on WWDC 2018 this June, possibly, the keynote will witness new hardware announcements, but before that, Apple has just outmaneuvered us all by this invite.

Set to focus on education, the event will take place at a Chicago school on Tuesday, March 27 with the event kicking off at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. And it will be focused on “creative new ideas for teachers and students,” suggesting Apple has some education-related announcements planned.

Let’s take a field trip now. Details on the event are scarce, but given the location of it and the text on the invitation, indeed yells us a focus on education is a given fact. Although it is unclear what this may mean.

There is, of course, a bit quiet of rumored hardware and software in Apple’s pipeline that could fit within an educational prospect, including lower-priced versions of iPad Pro with Apple Pencil and MacBook Air that could be targeted at classrooms.

New entry-level MacBooks along with refreshed MacBook Air notebooks have also been speculated of the past, both of which could merge into an education-based event. All in all, we also expect the final version of iOS 11.3 release, and AirPower, AirPods wireless charger launch at the event.

The location is at Lane Tech College Prep High School in Chicago, interestingly, not in San Francisco. Here’s a recap of everything that could be announced at the Match 27 even based on recent rumors:

A 9.7-inch iPad is Apple’s cheapest tablet for $259, will be education pricing. While Apple is also considering to launch a more affordable MacBook Air in the second quarter of 2018 at an estimated $799-$899 price point. AirPower charging mat promises to inductively charge multiple Apple devices at once, including the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, iPhone X, and Apple Watch Series 3. It will also be able to charge AirPods placed in an optional charging case.

There is a wildcard entry too. A second-generation iPhone SE. Rumors have been circulating about an iPhone SE 2, with speculated features ranging from a larger 4.2-inch display to an iPhone X-style design. A new Apple Pencil is also expected. The artwork for Apple’s invite appears to be inspired by the Apple Pencil, so we’ll see an updated version of the drawing tool or support for the 9.7-inch iPad for educational purpose.

Finally, the availability of iOS 11.3 with ClassKit will indeed be released at the given stage immediately after the introduction.

This is what the event invite looks like. It was sent to select media outlets this morning.
