Download: New Skype Preview For Windows 10 Mobile Rolling Out With SMS Support This Summer

Microsoft making it official that the new Skype Preview app for Windows 10 Mobile should be available in the next few hours. Alongside, the current Skype Preview for PC Insider is also being updated with new features and performance enhancements.

The Redmond-based software maker has started rolling out the new Skype Windows Store app for Windows 10 Mobile devices with the ability to make group video calls and it will be released to members of the Windows Insider Program.

Announced earlier thios spring the new Skype app has been re-written from the scratch with modern computing tech in mind. Skype Preview has been already made available for PC users on the Insider program and starting today those on Mobile will also be able to try it out the leaner app.

What’s new in this? Group video calling is the one that can be made with up to 25 people at once, while you can also talk face-to-face in one-on-one calls as well as SMS text message, share photos, video messages, share your location, and send emoticons. Furthermore, you can also reply to Skype messages without even opening the app.

A few weeks ago, Microsoft made the sudden decision to pull off its Messaging Everywhere feature from the Anniversary Update Preview. Cited the bigger goal of being able to put SMS messaging into the Skype app instead, and now we have a clear timeline for that. Includes SMS relay, this will allow user to send SMS from a Windows 10 PC or Mobile. There’s still the ability to send and receive texts, group chats, and photos all in one app, as well as a single view of your SMS and Skype conversations.

Updated version of Skype Preview app is also available for both the Windows 10 Mobile and PC owners. The newer version comes with several improvements, featuring the ability to share your screen, send files, talk with chatbots, and get real-time translation of voice and video calls as well as instant mesaging. To use Modern Skype users had to leverage the People app, Skype Video app, Messaging app, Phone app.

The feature will go live to everyone with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update due on August 2.
