Google Play Music Streaming Service & Store Goes Live In India


After five years of debuting the service, today, Google has finally made available of Music Play in India. Announced at yesterday’s 18th anniversary event in India, officially, Google has introduced one of its highly anticipated products for the Indian market.

Google Play Music has been launched in India on web and mobile versions. Users can be able to download Music and stream otherwise using the Google Play app. The Play Music app will be presenting on the Play Store in line of Movies, Books and Newsstand. Users can also buy songs directly from the Music store which already has a large collection of latest and old Hindi, English and regional songs.

Users in India will be starting today will be able to see the Music section in Play Store and within the Play Music app. Currently, the only option to purchase music is available, and you don’t get the subscription streaming service as yet. Nevertheless, there is the basic Home, Top Charts and New Releases, appears up front once you open Play Music.

Songs inside Play Music are priced at a minimal of Rs. 15 and the albums costs almost Rs. 90 to Rs. 200 depending on your choice. Although, this pricing list of songs downloads and albums are a bit too high and expensive when compared to Apple Music and Wynk.

There is still chance for users upload up to 50,000 songs from their collection to Play Music. Songs can also be added from iTunes, Windows Media Player, or a desired folder on your portable music player or a smartphone. The purchased content if any you did before will be then available in all platforms where Google Play Music is live, such as on the worldwide web and in the Play Music app for Android and iOS. Wait!

There’s still Play Music Chrome app and Play Music Manager Desktop app for Windows, macOS Sierra (Mac) and Linux platforms to add your music collection to cloud drive. Play Music All Access and Podcasts are not available in the country as yet.

For now, the Indian music streaming space is acquired by Saavn, Gaana, Hungama and relatively new Wynk Music. What about Google Play Music?
