ASUS ZenFone AR With 8GB RAM Set To Launch In India On July 13

Asus has launched ZenFone AR (ZS571KL) as the world’s first smartphone with Tango augmented reality and Daydream VR by Google at this year’s CES 2017. Now, it seems the company is all ready to bring the handset finally to India. Here are the details.

After teasing the smartphone’s India launch on social channels last month, the company has now started sending out invites for a launch event on July 13. So there will be a huge competition between OnePlus 5 and ZenFone AR, while both sports 8GB of RAM, and the OnePlus 5 recently launched in India with the memory.

Another major likes goes to the ZenFone AR would be its 23-megapixel rear camera with a motion tracking camera and depth sensing that supports Tango AR capabilities. It also comes with a new “immersive” five-magnet speaker that supports High-Res Audio and DTS virtual surround system. As he Taiwan-based company has used “#DareToDream” on teasers for ZenFone AR, while it’s safe to assume that the smartphone will be launched in India on the aforementioned date.

Its launch invite, Asus says “Push the boundaries of your imagination,” further indicating the augmented reality capabilities offered by the smartphone, called ZenFone AR.

To recall, the smartphone comes with support for Google’s Daydream VR and Tango AR platform as the main attraction, and it also comes with a camera arrangement that allow motion tracking depth perception, and area learning. In terms of other specifications, the ZenFone AR runs Android 7.0 Nougat and features a 5.7-inch QHD (2560×1440) 2K Super AMOLED display and is powered by Snapdragon 821 SoC that has been claimed to be customized for Tango by the company itself.

In terms of optics, the ZenFone AR’s 23MP Sony IMX318 module with TriTech+ autofocus system, also combined with dual-PDAF, second-generation Laser Focus, and continuous focus, the rear camera supports 4-axis OIS (optical image stabilization) as well as 3-axis EIS (electronic image stabilization) for video recording alongside support for 4K video captures. Up front, there’s an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture and an 85-degree wide angle lens.

The ZenFone AR comes with up to 256GB of built-in storage, further expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB extra) in a hybrid dual-SIM (Micro+}Nano) configuration. It houses a 3300mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone supports 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac5 GHz 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, USB Type-C.
