In collaboration with Cashify, Xiaomi has launched a new trade-in program for the Indian market designed to make its handsets even more affordable for consumers. You can take full advantage of the Mi Exchange Program at any of the company’s 11 Mi Home stores across the select regions.
Trade-in schemes are somewhat much popular in India, which has already proven the fact about exchanging old devices to buy new smartphones. With the likes of Samsung and OnePlus and online retailers such as Flipkart already running similar programs.
Xiaomi has already babbled with exchange programs in the past by offering customers discount coupons who recycled any of their discontinued phones. Now that, the Chinese OEM’s latest scheme appears to be a real deal, though, as the company has partnered Cashify to ensure the exchange process running smoothly.
Xiaomi’s Mi Exchange program lets you trade-in your old handset for a new Xiaomi phone at the nearest Mi Home store. There are eleven Mi Home stores across India, including Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, and Chennai.
How Does Xiaomi’s Mi Exchange Program Works?
As you’d expect, the discount you’ll get on a new phone depends on the overall condition of your exchanging old phone. The resale price is decided by Cashify and Xiaomi has stressed that the final offer is non-negotiable.
“Cashify team will propose the resale value for the device that you want to exchange on the market conditions.” Otherwise, you can use the same amount to get a discount for a new device at the store itself. There’s a catch and that is, you can only trade-in one device against your purchase of a new Xiaomi handset. And you can’t cash in on a bunch of old phones in one go.
There is a neat pickup service, though. Here, the customer pays the full amount for the new Xiaomi device and Cashify will pick up the old phone from your home at a later date and refund the difference.
Xiaomi confirmed that it is expecting to open 100 Mi Home stores all-over India in the next couple of years. Hope it expands the exchange program to other partner services as well, pretty soon. With Xiaomi’s Mi Exchange program launch, it represents another small leap in the company’s expansion plans in the country.
