The Unicode Consortium has already previewed 51 emoji that are planned for release as part of Unicode 10 later this year. Now, according to this report, the organization has released the full list of 69 new emoticons coming with the update, which is somewhat expected to be released this coming June, though likely won’t come to iOS until September.
The folks over at Emojipedia have taken the listed emoji and rendered them as they might appear on an Apple device. Although emoji look slightly different on iOS device depending on where they are being viewed – and there are some great emoji candidates, ranked. Some of our favorite additions include a brain, a curling stone and a lovely looking sandwich because, well, who doesn’t like sandwiches as breakfast.
Coming with Unicode 10 are a variety of new emoji, including a tyrannosaurus T-Rex, a mermaid, and a plethora of other new ones.
When compared to last summer, Unicode 9.0 was made official with 72 new emoji characters including bacon, selfie, and a crown face. The majority of Unicode 9.0 emoji made they way to iOS with iOS 10.2. It’s now unclear whether or when exactly we’ll see Unicode 10 come to iOS, in iOS 10.3 or iOS 11 is in question. For a few months at least as the final versions of the emojis won’t be released until June, which is too late for an inclusion with iOS 11. Including the new emoji in mid-cycle upgrade gives users who wouldn’t normally worry about an iOS update, a reason to update.
Those colorful emotions/pictures are simply called emoji, which is when you ask for the meaning of emoji, and are taking over the world. Fine, because the people behind what makes an emoji all official like, namely the Unicode has been hard at work on its latest release version 10.0, with no fewer than 69 new emoji ready for a Spring release as part of its latest version Unicode 10.
Also, it is important to remember that while there are some gorgeous and excellent additions here, it is possible that some of the best will change or be removed entirely from the top list before they begin to appear on iPhones and Android devices later this year.
Those 69 emoji shown off today are only a draft, with the final certified emojis not set to be ready until around a couple of months – an exact release date hasn’t yet been announced or tipped, though points on June. The image below previews 69 of the new emoji, though the specific designs are still considered as being in the form of “draft”.

While we prank about how people use emoji, they have fast become an major part of the way people communicate online, whether that be via messaging services like iMessage or on social networks like Twitter and Facebook.
People these days becoming crazy enough, wearing cloths with emoji on them, and while many might prefer the use of words over emoji, it is fair to say that the little icons that were born out of Japan are now part of everyone’s lives, whether they like that fact or not! Reactions please!
