Android 7.1.2 for Pixel and Nexus rolling out

The release of public beta of Android 7.1.2 update should see users get smaller builds of Android more frequently. The rollout of it for the Pixel, Pixel XL, and Pixel C, as well as Nexus 5X and Nexus Player are supported, bringing the eligibility to Nexus 6P as well, but will be released soon.

The two other Google Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 are not supported by the latest update, and the final compatible version will be the Android 7.1.1 only. It was prior confirmed by Google that there is no guaranteed updates for the said devices after October 2016. Both these smartphones including Nexus 6/9 won’t see security updates available in this year.

Users of the eligible devices can head to android.com/beta and opt-in to the beta rollout. Alternatively, beta factory images are provided here. Google promises a “number of bugfixes and optimizations, along with a small number of enhancements for carriers and users.” Since Android 7.1.2 is just an incremental maintenance update available to install.

What’s new changes you will get with the latest public beta of 7.1.2 Nougat version are; the dialer has references to a “multimedia call,” Bluetooth was touched (bug fixes, I’m sure), there’s still a few Verizon-specific things like a demo mode (on the Pixels, at least), and found a new “high temperature” warning which has something to do with Daydream VR mode overheating the hardware.

Currently, Android 7.1.2 is live for Pixel and Pixel XL, Nexus Player and Pixel C. You can get downloaded from Android Developer website above. Either way you can also grab it from Android Beta Program, which is one of the easiest way to do so.
