Apple today released iOS 11.1 beta 5 IPSW links and OTA update to members registered on Apple Developer Program portal.
It took Apple only a few days to seed the fifth beta of an upcoming iOS 11.1 update to developers and over a month after releasing the iOS 11 update to the public. Registered developers can download iOS 11.1 beta 5 over-the-air once the proper configuration profile has been installed from the Developer Center.
Update x1: Apple also released the fifth public beta of iOS 11.1, as well as the fourth beta of tvOS 11.1 to developers, and macOS High Sierra 10.13.1.
As the fourth beta of iOS 11.1 includes changes such as hundreds of new emoji, the return of the 3D Touch multitasking gesture, and much more.
Today’s release comes only a few days after iOS 11.1 beta 4 and is the third seed of iOS 11.1 released in last seven days. All this means is that the final iOS 11.1 version is nearing its release. We won’t be surprised if Apple actually ends up releasing it sometime later this week.
As far as new features are concerned, iOS 11.1, in general, brings several improvements, redesigned emoji characters to iPhone and iPad devices. It brings the ability to invoke Cover Sheet (previously Notification Center) via Reachability mode. iOS 11.1, like watchOS 4.1, tvOS 11.1 and macOS 10.13.1, also patches KRACK WPA2 WiFi vulnerability. The standard that protects many modern Wi-Fi networks. Using a key reinstallation attack or “KRACK,” attackers can exploit a weakness in the WPA2 protocol to decrypt network traffic to sniff out sensitive information.
With the return of the gesture, iPhone users can once again 3D Touch at the left edge of the display to bring up the multitasking App Switcher interface. There’s a built-in keyboard in iOS 11.1 now offers multiple emoji symbols when using an emoji-related world.
Next, up in the iOS 11.1 beta 5 update is, it could introduce the Apple Pay cash feature, which Apple employees are currently testing in a special version of the beta. Also testing internally is the iMessage syncing through iCloud.
iOS 11.1 beta is available via the Settings app. Head over to Settings > General > Software Update section on your device right now to grab the latest iOS 11.1 beta 5 seed as an OTA update.
Alternatively, if IPSW file is what you look forward, you can head over to developer.apple.com to get it directly from there and then using iTunes to restore or update the new firmware.
