Download: watchOS 4.3 Beta 1 Is Available For Developers, Here’s What Is New

You can now download watchOS 4.3 beta 1 for Apple Watch, as Apple has released the first developer pre-release seed for members of Apple Developer Program. Here’s everything that is new in this release of watchOS.

Once again saying that Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming watchOS 4.3 update to developers, which comes just two days after watchOS 4.2.2 final, a minor update focusing on bug fixes and performance improvements.

Now, we have watchOS 4.3 beta 1 available for download by developers, the update is already settled on the Apple Developer Program portal and will be rolled out over-the-air soon if it is not there already by the time you read this.

No public beta channel for the Apple Watch is there, so it’s developers only, unfortunately. If you have a proper configuration profile installed from the Apple Developer Center, then, the new watchOS beta can be downloaded through the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone by simply going to General > Software Update.

Weighing in at around 340MB, this update carries a build number 15T5156e and brings with it a few new features and changes. Those include a new charging animation, a change of name from Apple Watch to Speaker in Control Center. The update is also required in order for developers to create apps based on the watchOS 4.3 SDK.

The watchOS 4.3 SDK provides support for developing watchOS apps for watchOS 4.3. The SDK comes bundled with Xcode 9.3 available from the Apple Developer Program download page.

The watchOS 4.3 beta arrives just a day after a whole new host of software betas, including those for macOS, iOS, and tvOS. It will likely go through a number of beta iterations before it is made available for the public to download and install on their own Apple Watch gadgets.

Note: The fact is that it cannot be downgraded once a beta version of watchOS has been installed. Developers who need to do that have to send their watch to Apple, something that is simply not viable at scale.

To install the update, the Apple Watch needs to have at least 50% battery, and it must be placed on the charger, it has to be in the range of the iPhone.

Update X1: watchOS 4.3 also introduces support for Nightstand Mode when in portrait orientation, which is no doubt added for us with the AirPower charging dock. It adds Activity information to the Siri watch face.

There is a missing fact that the update also includes the return of a much-desired feature that allows music playing on the iPhone to be controlled using the Music app on the Apple Watch.

Try it: watchOS 4.3 beta 1 can be downloaded right now from
