iOS 11 Jailbreak ‘LiberiOS’ Has Been Officially Released

You can now download iOS 11.1.2 / iOS 11 jailbreak LiberiOS for iPhone X, 8 and all 64-bit devices. It’s the first kind of a semi-untethered solution and is public iOS 11 jailbreak to come out after the platform’s debut back in September this year.

The recent news was in the jailbreak community is that has merged together into somewhat of a blur over the past weeks.

Thanks to Goog;e’s Ian Beer’s exploit (async wake vulnerability) to complete jailbreak related work for devices running iOS 11.0 through iOS 11.1.2. The same also allowed multiple talented individuals to go about their own business, including the highly talented Jonathan Levin, which has resulted in this release of LiberiOS jailbreak for iOS 11 through iOS 11.1.2.

Dubbed LiberiOS, the jailbreak mainly based on Ian’s exploit, has released into the community as promised by Levin. It comes with the caveats that it isn’t a fully functional “jailbreak” as the community has come to know.

The aforementioned means that while it does give root and SSH access, but it doesn’t actually give immediate and easy access to Cydia and Substrate which are very much required to easily install jailbreak tweaks and packages to the device through a simple graphical user interface.

Finally! Developer and hacker Jonathan Levin has released LiberiOS jailbreak for iOS 11 through iOS 11.1.2 iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. Cydia Substrate must be updated for iOS 11.0 by Saurik. The likely reason why Cydia doesn’t properly work yet is that it hasn’t been updated to work on 64-bit-only iOS 11.

It seems like Saurik makes it fully compatible with iOS 11, after which we are sure it will be added to this jailbreak one way or the other.

From a compatibility perspective, LiberiOS will give you jailbreak on all 64-bit devices running iOS 11.0 to iOS 11.1.2 firmwares. Those who have upgraded their devices to iOS 11.2 / 11.2.1 are out of luck. The jailbreak does not support any devices running anything pre-iOS 11.0 or after iOS 11.1.2, which immediately rules out the latest iOS 11.2 and iOS 11.2.1 firmware.

So yes, starting with iPhone 5s, SE, 6, 6s, 6 Plus, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, iPhone X, all 64-bit iPads and 6th-generation iPod touch are supported. Also added is support for Apple TV 4 and Apple TV 4K running tvOS 11.0 to tvOS 11.1.2.

No way you can downgrade from iOS 11.2.x for jailbreak. You are out of luck as Apple stopped signing iOS 11.0-11.1.2 firmware versions.

Those who are waiting for this jailbreak to come, and having compatible firmware versions installed, can download LiberiOS right now from Levin’s official website here. Just know that Cydia won’t work as yet and you’ll have to wait for Suarik to update it.

We can share with you a guide on how to use the jailbreak and will post it shortly. Stay tuned for more steps!
