Electra iOS 11.3.1 Jailbreak To Be Released In A Few Days, Announced

The team behind Electra jailbreak for iOS 11.3.1 had reported the reason causing the delay in the release of the much-anticipated jailbreak, which actually because of the remount issue, which wasn’t stable enough to release it to the public. Today, the Electra team has announced that you will soon be able to jailbreak iOS 11.3.1.

The team, led by developer CoolStar, has confirmed that a different direction has been taken in regards to the rootfs mount issue and that a revamped version of Electra iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak will be released “within a few days.”

Electra iOS 11.3.1 Jailbreak Coming soon

While the Electra team were depending on Johnathan Levin aka @Morpheus – to work on writing an exploit that would make the vulnerability that allows initial remount of / which was discovered by @SparkZheng even better. That he lowered the priority of finishing the exploit as he got spammed on Twitter. So, CoolStar had announced that the Electra team would work on it. It’s great to hear about that they have been able to complete it so quickly and will be releasing iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak soon.

The Electra team has also confirmed that it had moved away from that in favor of its own APFS bypass with confirmation that it does burn a 0day which was relevant to Apple’s iOS 12 platform but that others do exist that are in their progression if they need to utilize them in the future.

Remount for 11.3.1 is complete! Jailbreak will be dropping within a few days

We are not using Spark’s bypass as it was unstable. We are using our own APFS bypass

(It burns the 0day and yes, we have others for iOS 12 if needed)

And, burning a 0day isn’t deal, but it doesn’t appear to be the end of the world, either.

CoolStar has also taken to Electra Twitter account to confirm that its jailbreak tool will “support all iOS device on iOS 12-11.3.1,” with the exception of a few devices belonging to an individual who doesn’t exactly appear to be on CoolStar’s Christmas card list:

Electra will support all iOS devices on 11.2-11.3.1*!

*Except for the specific devices owned by that one guy who pissed me off 3 days, you know who you are.

The tweets from the Electra team also declares that CoolStar, and @nullriver, the official Electra website has also been updated with a “coming soon” message and a countdown bar that suggests that the jailbreak is currently in the “packaging” stage.

As we already mentioned it in our previous post, Electra iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak will also be a semi-tethered jailbreak like Electra iOS 11.1.2 jailbreak. A semi-tethered is something like a semi-untethered jailbreak similar to an untethered jailbreak which gives the ability to reboot your iOS device on its own, no manual reboot is required. But on each boot, the iPhone or iPad startup sequence is unmodified and it boots into its original, non-jailbroken state.

Instead of needing to use a tool from a connected computer to re-jailbreak the iOS device again, like a tethered or semi-tethered cases, the user can re-jailbreak it with the help of an app running on the iOS device such as the Electra app (Safari-based JailbreakMe 5.0) in case of Electra jailbreak.

However, we can only presume that the next stage is to update the website containing the official release and get the new overhauled IPA file into the hands of the public. Finishing touches are being applied to the jailbreak ahead of that pivotal release day.

Finally, the process appears to be all but complete. As soon as the switch is flipped, we’ll be sure to let you know when you can put your hands on to grab the final download, complete with tutorials and guides on how to go about using it the right way. Stay tuned for more updates!

So as the Electra jailbreak will support all iOS 11.0 versions except for iOS 11.4 and iOS 11.4.1 which is currently in beta as Apple has patched the iOS 11.3.1 kernel exploit released by Ian Beer in iOS 11.4. Every iOS 11.2, iOS 11.2.1, iOS 11.2.5, iOS 11.2.6, iOS 11.3, iOS 11.3.1 and also iOS 11 – iOS 11.1.2 is supported.
