LG seems to be taking on GoPro with its newly launched LTE Action Camera, that comes equipped with 4G LTE connectivity into its tiny camcorder so you can now onwards don’t need to pair it to a smartphone to stream live video. Introduced its new “Friend” device from its ecosystem, being the world’s first action camera capable of connecting to LTE networks. The Acation Cam allows you (users) manage to Shoot 4K videos, which can also stream directly to sites such as YouTube Live without a mobile phone.
The LG Action Cam LTE has its own 4G/3G connection so that it can livestream your adventures, complete with location tracking thanks to the built-in GPS. GoPro’s do not include LTE chips yet, so this opens LG’s LTE Action Camera to a whole new world of uses. It has a fully waterproof case, which will be available to purchase later this year, and will let you live stream surfing, scuba diving, or anything related to water straight into YouTube.
LG’s Action Cam featuring some of its best and impressive hardware specifications wrapped inside the gadget. The camera uses a 12.3MP sensor with 1.55µm pixels that has a 150-degree wide angle lens, an accelerometer, a gyroscope and more. This lens found inside the 12-megapixel Action camera is wider than the 135° of the LG G5. It can affordably shoot 4K @30fps video, 1080p @ 60fps and 720p @ 120fps (note that live streaming is limited to 720p HD @30fps only).
The camera also supports WiFi and Bluetooth and even lets owners of LG Action Cam download recorded images and videos on their paired smartphones, which it also gets IP67 rating, can go under a meter of water for half an hour – while it packs a 1,400mAh battery promising to share 4 hours of continuous shooting and an expandable microSD card slot is available for extra storage as well. Where LG claiming around four hours of full HD recording time to micro-SD storage, and for live streaming should be around two hours.

Finally, LG is planning to launch the LTE Action Camera in its home town, South Korea next month, followed by European markets and North America. The company’s men also says that a remote access feature will also be available as a software update coming July 2016. No other words regarding Action Cam LTE pricing has been detailed just yet, but we’ll get the official budget and know it will expand availability soon.
