It seems like Reliance Jio has quietly started offering another JioFi 4G wireless hotspot through its Reliance Digital stores across India. Selling this as how the 2nd-generation JioFi was retailed with a price cut from launch price of Rs. 2899.
Interestingly, the all-new JioFi 4G wireless hotspot is identical to the previous offering. Unlike JioFi 2, the new one with OLED display has included Power On/Off, Network Strength, WiFi tower etc. It’s battery package is a bit larger than its predecessor of 2600mAh cell and sports a “Designed in India” logo on the back of the portable device.
Despite the OLED display, the new JioFi 4G wireless hotspot also has a microUSB port and WPS button. It comes with a cylindrical shape and a charger, a micro USB cable apart. It is said to support 3 (1800MHz), 5 (850MHz) and 40 (TD2300 MHz) for Jio.
The JioFi 4G battery comes with the company started lower running time of 5 hours as compared to the 8 hours mark on the JioFi 2. When compared, the new JioFi 4G wireless hotspot comes with a matte finish polycarbonate shell unlike the glossy plastic seen on the previous version. Up to 260 hours of standby, which of course depends on the network conditions, Jio suggests that it will take up to almost 3 hours and 30 minutes of time to charge the device using the power adapter and about 6 hours using USB cable.
Downside of the new JioFi 4G Hotspot is its support for only 10 devices, while the JioFi 2 offered its wireless hotspot source to up to 31 devices. It will be available in three colors, including Black, White and Blue. On the back, there is a microSD and a micro SIM slot as well. The device which we are now talking about has WiFi 802.11 support and lets you connect up to as said 10 Wi-Fi-enabled devices and to a device using USB.
Of course, it comes with a Jio 4G SIM, that lets you make voice calls and video calls even on 2G/3G phone by simply installing the JioJion app and connecting it to the hotspot over WiFi.
“The new JioFi portable router gets an OLED display to show signal strength, Wi-Fi status, and remaining battery life”.
Note: The new JioFi 4G wireless Hotspot is ‘Made in Vietnam’ and comes with a markedly higher MRP of Rs. 4,050. With that said, Reliance has also included LYF branding to the new JioFi 4G Wireless Hotspot accessory priced at Rs. 1999.
