Xiaomi seems to be planning to launch its new Mi flagship, the successor to the Mi6 in the first half of 2017. Dubbed Xiaomi Mi7. Here are the details you need to know about.
Xiaomi Mi7, rumored to have a bezel-less edge-to-edge display and a dual-lens camera system to compete with the likes of OnePlus 5T and not possibly the Apple’s iPhone X.
According to the report coming from a Chinese site, MyDrivers – the Mi 7 will feature a 6.01-inch OLED screen – made by Samsung, who also manufactured the same for Apple. This is a significant update over the Mi6 which was debuted earlier this year with a 5.15-inch full HD (1080×1920 pixels) IPS display.
However, the new Xiaomi Mi flagship is also said to sports Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 SoC, the same Samsung Galaxy S9 rumored. If anything to be trusted, the Xiaomi Mi7 could be unveiled next month, December.
There are still several smartphone OEMs planning to launch their upcoming flagships set to take on the iPhone X’s facial recognition features, Face ID. Xiaomi is one of which stands apart in the competition. The Chinese company may be using the same inclusion similar to Apple’s facial recognition on its future models, but not with the launch of Mi7, as per the reports.
Despite that, Xiaomi is seemingly using a new iPhone as its reference for designing its Mi7 smartphone. Therefore, it’s said to have two rear-facing camera sensor – one with a 16-megapixel lens, f/1.7 aperture. Xiaomi is also looking forward to adding the potrait mode with an enhanced Bokeh effect and optical zoom using the twin-camera system.
Other than the aforementioned, Xiaomi Mi7 is said to come with a 6GB of RAM and 3350mAh battery package. As it’s being an OLED Xiaomi Mi7 smartphone, the rumored handset is said to have a fingerprint scanner on its back, just under the dual-lens camera module.
Note: The Xiaomi Mi7 will not be the first hardware to have minimal bezels. There are already in the market on sale, the Mi MIX and the latest Mi MIX 2. Unlike the Mi MIX lineup which features a ceramic back, the Mi 6 successor is claimed to have a glass back panel. Would be the case to enable wireless charging on the next-new Mi smartphone.
As of pricing, the Chinese report highlights that the Mi7 will go on sale in China with a tag of CNY 2,699 (approximately INR 26,600). Stay tuned for more!
