Gionee S9, S9T Front-Facing Camera Flash Leaked In Live Photos

Gionee is another Chinese smartphone maker ready to launch a set of two new sefie-focused camera phones, Gionee S9/s9T. Teaser already revealed some of its hardware specs and this time it shows up live photos of the official phone. Here are the details.

Both S9 and S9T are set to go live on November 15, as the teaser confirms the date which has been subjected to a handful of leaks, confirming its key features and design as well. Just ahead of its introduction, Gionee has been teasing the smartphone with a dual-rear camera setup, and now the latest reveals its front-facing camera module with an LED flash to allow users capture better selfie shots in low-light conditions.


Apart the teaser, few other leaked photos have also been made available, surfaced online. Spotted photos shows the front and back of the smartphone, but not at the clearest, nevertheless confirms some design tips. First of all the photo shows the front panel with the display and 2.5D glass on top. Secondary, when you see the Home button, which has been flacked by app switcher and also back buttons just below the display. The volume buttons alongside the right panel have been witnessed and finally the back of the devices shows up the dual camera system, LED flash and Gionee logo.

Admitting that the Gionee’s S9 and S9T smartphones sports a full metal unibody design and the antenna lines along the top half as visible in the emerged photos.

Gionee S9 / S9T Specifications

The S9 was recently spotted on TENAA, and the listing shown the smartphone featuring 5.5-inch Full HD display covered by 2.5D curved glass. It’s only 7.4mm thin and weighs at 166.5 grams. Under-the-hood, the smartphone that we are talking about is expected to be powered by a 1.8GHz Octa-Core SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM. Considering the phone boasts a dual camera module, we won’t be surprised if it is powered by Qualcomm’s new chipset that supports Clear Sight technology. It also includes a 64GB of internal storage, a microSD card for further expansion of memory up to 128GB.

Likely to sport a 13-megapixel + 5MP dual-rear camera setup at the back and still got no details about which type of sensors Gionee is using in its new and unannounced S9 and S9T phones. If in case, Gionee uses Qualcomm’s technology, then, the smartphone might offer an RGB (color) and a monochrome sensor to help user capture better photos. For video calling and other front-facing aspects, the phones are also expected to get 13MP camera with LED flash.

Battery on the Gionee S9 and S9T, we can only expect a 3000mAh unit and on the connectivity front, the S9 is likely to support 4G LTE with VoLTE, GPS, Bluetooth, USB and WiFi. The two new smartphones from Gionee will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with Gionee’s Amigo YI on top.

While the Gionee S9T is expected to bring slight changes. Unlike the S9, the S9T to come with a glass back design, sport a slightly faster and higher-end 2GHz processor. Rest of the specs should be same as its brother version.


A little about its predecessor, the Gionee S8. Equipped with a pressure sensitive touch technology, which is a bit like 3D Touch on iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 range. In fact it remains to be seen whether Gionee will include the same technology inside S9 and S9T as well. With multiple WhatsApp and WeChat accounts, the two new Gionee phones are going to launch on Tuesday.

No word on the price info or the availability has been clarified yet, but can be expected to make Gionee a official announcement on the given release date timeframe.
