Google Maps Now Lets Book And Pay Uber Rides Without Leaving The App, Here’s How To Do So

Here’s how you can easily book an Uber ride and pay without leaving the Google Maps app.

Google has started rolling out an update to Google maps for iOS that eventually allows users request a ride from Uber without ever having to leave the app. The updated Google Maps was actually received a redesigned ‘ride services’ section, which was only been offered to users with a ride estimate for cab hailing services such as Ola and Uber in India particularly. But would be kicked off into the Uber app proper for confirmation and payment.


Now though, users can book and pay for an Uber directly within Google Maps, without having to get the official Uber app installed on their devices, thanks to the reinvented “ride services’ section. With the completion of booking process, users were redirected to the relative apps. And with the latest upgrade, users can hire an Uber without having to leave the app, thus making it pretty easier than ever.

For iOS, Google Maps version 4.27 update added location data to ‘Popular Times’ that lets user see how crowded a particular place is in where they want to proceed. With this new update to Google Maps Uber app, users will be thankful to know that they can even book a ride, pay within the app itself.

As of today, Google has only integrated Uber services in its Maps app. One of the best advantages of this implementation would be that you never need to have an Uber app on your iPhone or iPad device. Before you confirm it as it is, you will need to sign-in to your Uber account in order to use the updated service. In India, the ride services section is also shows Ola cabs, but you’ll need to have the app installed on your given smartphone. Book an Uber ride, Pay from Google Maps

Step 1: Open Google Maps first. On the ‘search bar’ which is on top, enter the destination where you actually want to go. At the bottom right, you will see a ‘car icon’ for navigation. Tap on it.

Step 2: On the top, there’s your current location, the destination and four tabs below it – Car Navigation, Public Transport, Walking, and finally the ‘ride services’ tab.

Step 3: Now, tap on ‘ride services’ and you will see the cabs nearby. The bottom half, has two tabs – Uber and Ola.


Step 4: Under Uber tab, you have options – uberPOOL, uberGO, uberX and uberXL along with fare estimate. Beneath that, you also get an estimate of how quickly the taxi can reach your current location, and an option to ‘request’ on the bottom right. Booking Ola? You will see the options and fare estimate, but no ‘request’ option present there instead you will see an option to open the app to book one.

Step 5: After tapping on request Uber ride, Google maps will ask you to sign-in. Next screen will come again with an estimate, and option to choose mode of payments (via Paytm, cash or credit/debit card). Once all the details are confirmed, tap on the ‘Book’ button.

After completing, there appears your ride details such as the driver name, vehicle type and registration number etc. Just below that, you also have a calling button, if you want to call the driver, and a cancel button if required to cancel the ride. To add icing on the cake, Google is also offering Rs 50 discount on the final fare when you book an Uber from the Maps app itself.
