Design and Display

The Galaxy S6 Edge have a dual-curved edges on the display, where LG G4 only has slightly curved back panel. Display on the S6 Edge packs a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED screen also utlizes at QHD resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The G4 has an unique was of adding that touch of finesse, and comes with its own very own leather back cover, which has a textured rear panel and it’s scratch-less, water and dust resistant. Screen on the G4 goes with a 5.5-inch Quantum quad-HD (2560 x 1440) IPS display. Both the smartphone displays are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.


You could see Galaxy S6 Edge measures 142.1 x 70.1 x 7.0mm and weighs about 132 grams and comes with a pixel density of 576ppi. Whereas the LG G4 measures 149.1 x 75.3 x 8.9mm and refined it a bit with rear-mounted volume rockers and power button, flaunts a 534ppi.


LG has opted for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC clocked at 1.8GHz, 64-bit Hexa-core processor and Adreno 418 GPU and paired with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage and comes with microSD card support for memory expansion. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge runs on its own Exynos 7420 chipset, built on a 14nm process and thus more energy-efficient and producing less heat compared to 20nm Snapdragon 810 – an octa-core 64-bit CPU with four Cortex-A57 cores ticking at 2.1GHz and four Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.5GHz with Mali-T760 GPU and paired with the same 3GB LPDDR4 RAM. Comes in three storage options – 32GB / 64GB / 128GB storage, non-expandable – which means it doesn’t have support for expandable microSD slot.


With a new ISOCELL camera sensor with 16MP resolution, the Galaxy S6 Edge is enhanced with optical image stabilization, phase detection autofocus and has a single-LED flash. Quite expected, 4K video recording is supported. LG G4 is strong on photography, and introduced an OIS 16MP camera offering HDR, f/1.8 aperture for improved low-light shots over the f1.9 lens in the Samsung Galaxy S6.


The G4 is able to shoot panoramas up to a boasting 104MP, compared to the Galaxy S6 which is accompanied at 60MP. Front-facing camera sets up at 8MP on LG G4 and 5MP brings a new state of art ultra-thin IR filter on board, and both are capable of capturing 2160p@30fps and 1080p@60fps videos. On Galaxy S6 Edge it is built with only a 5MP wide-angle lens.



The Galaxy S6 Edge includes LTE Cat.6, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, GPS with GLONASS and Beidou, IR blaster and FM radio. There’s LTE support as standard with the LG G4, with speeds of up to an impressive 450 MBps. Additionally, you get Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, NFC, USB 2.0, A2DP, LE, apt-X, A-GPS, GLONASS, IR blaster, FM radio with RDS and 4K Slimport support.


Both the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop customized with the new TouchWiz UX on Galaxy S6 Edge offers various features and apps working on the edges of the display, including a newer and better version of the Quick Glance info for the lockscreen. The LG G4 will offer Android Lollipop 5.1 right out of the box powered by LG’s own UX 4.0 UI on top.


The Galaxy S6 Edge will be up for grabs in White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Green Emerald.


And the LG G4 color options include Metallic Gray,Ceramic White, Shiny Gold paint job with Ceramic back, Black, Brown, Red, Sky Blue, Beige or Yellow genuine leather.



With a removable battery package fixed with 3000mAh capacity, LG G4 will be on top when compared to Galaxy S6 Edge’s 2600 mAh unit. The LG G4 also comes with support for Qi wireless charging, but need a dedicated back cover that can be purchased to use it.

Price and Release Date

On its home Korean market, LG G4 will be available starting on April 29 and the rest of the world to wait a bit more. It may cost you 825,000 KRW (INR 48,880 or US$775) and 180 carriers globally later on. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is already up for sale – The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge 32GB is priced at Rs 58,900 ($945), 64GB for Rs 64, 900 ($1041), and 128 GB for INR 70,900 ($1138).
