Samsung has introduced an all-new blazing fast microSD card with a massive 128GB capacity at somewhat huge price-tag. The new Samsung’s 128GB PRO Plus memory card joins the existing 128GB EVO Plus card that is currently available to purchase to those in need of expandable storage space on their smartphones. With this new offering of pro designation thanks to its extensively increased data write speeds.
Built-in with Samsung‘s advanced MLC NAND flash solution, the new PRO Plus 128GB microSD card up that to a speedy 95MB/s and 90MB/s. While the EVO Plus card can only read and write at 80MB/s and 20MB/s respectively. Even though with that hugely increased write speed may not initially seem like that big of a deal in a microSD card given their usual home will be in smartphones and high-end cameras, but those two situations are actualy exactly where increased writing speeds can come in handy and considerable. Photographers, in particular, when taking lots of burst photos, for instance, will definetely benefit fro those fast write speeds.
What’s the bad news is that, Samsung’s own high-end smartphones of 2015 can’t actually take advantage of these cards due to the simple fact that they aren’t equipped with microSD card slots. Includes the Galaxy S6 and its Edge variants and Note5, S6 Edge+.
Impressive is that this speedy new 128GB microSD card from Samsung is by no means the largest around. SanDisk, one of the best storage solutions, already have an Ultra 200GB microSD card on the market for those that really do need that kind of massive storage on the top and that too available at just $99, it gives you double the storage for half the price of Samsung’s, though the new 128GB offering from the SK makes up for that by surprising said card when it comes to both read and write speeds. With 4K video recorded left and right these days, and BluRay technology is in front, who are we to say that 200GB is too much? While HTC offers 2TB microSD card support in their smartphones, so what’s next to is matters.
Features, you can expect from Samsung’s new 128GB microSD card is, it can record up to three hours and 50minutes of 4K UHD video or 16 hours and 20 minutes of Full HD video in action cameras. The MLC NAND flash memory and UHS-I Speed Class 3 (U3) and Speed Class 10 support. The microSD can store a maximum of 10,940 photos or 30,670 MP3 songs, as per the company.
Most impressive is that it has waterproof (IEC 60529, IPX7), temperature proof, X-ray proof and magnetic proof protection and comes with a 10 year limited warranty. Samsung’s PRO Plus 128GB microSD card will soon be available in over 50 countries worldwide.
