An all new OnePlus 5 prototype has been purportedly photographed in the real world showed a leaked photo earlier this week, affirming that the phone might be a lot more expensive than we thought. Now, another image leaked from China showing off a different design for the alleged next-generation OnePlus handset. Most importantly, the latest photo leak tipped something to steal from the iPhone era. Here are the details.
OnePlus has confirmed that it is partnering with DxO, a photography benchmark to “enhance” the camera on the upcoming OnePlus 5 device, which suggests that this partnership is planning to take things to the next level. But OnePlus has not shared much details on the collaboration, rather hints at a dual rear camera setup in the works on the OnePlus 5. Highlights a vertical dual camera system, but we are only able to see the back of the phone and it has the same metal unibody design accompanied with antenna bands on top and bottom. Also spotted the OnePlus logo and LED flash.
The above mentioned was the partnership between OnePlus and DxO in photography department and today. From the looks of it, OnePlus might be testing a several prototypes in the wild, assuming these leaks are unique. That means there’s no telling what the final OnePlus 5 will look, but fortunately, the dual-lens rear camera appears in all these recent leaks, so at least one thing seems to be a safe bet.
New images posted to Weibo show a handset that’s very much the same to that of a possible prototype we previously saw. But there are still some differences, though. This model doesn’t have any antenna lines on the top or bottom, and the rear camera setup is also different, with the flash sitting between the two lenses rather than below them.
The main difference comes from the phone’s bottom side, which surprisingly lacks a headphone jack, just like the iPhone 7 and recent Moto flagship phones. The decision to remove the traditional headphone audio jack from the iPhone 7 series, Apple has reportedly faced plenty of criticism, though other Android device makers such as Motorola did it without dealing with much backlash at all. So OnePlus might be the next company to adopt this smartphone design change.
Yes, there’s a big thirst while the iPhone 7 also made dual lens cameras great again, with various OEMs expected to ship similar smartphones this year, including OnePlus 5 and Samsung with Galaxy Note 8 (blessed with a 6.3-inch display) in the near future.
