It seems like Samsung Galaxy S8 Active have just accidentally been revealed as it shows up getting the FCC certification, along with massive bumpers and even AT&T marking. Here are the details.
Samsung has been rumored to making a rugged version of its flagship devices and that was doing since past few years (since Galaxy S4 Active), and a new one is on the way, in the form of Galaxy S8 Active, which could be arriving really soon.
The so-called Galaxy S8 Active was spotted on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) online database, and with this proof of existence, we can pretty much confirm that the handset is real and upcoming.
The Galaxy S8 Active has a model number of SM-G892A. Following a Wi-Fi certification, benchmark listings, and a slip up by Netflix and one by Samsung itself, the S8 Active has now been certified by the FCC in the US. It all happens just after Samsung announced the refurbished Galaxy Note 7 as the Galaxy Note FE (Fan Edition), specifically hit the shelves in South Korea.
As always, the technical documentation with detailed measurements that only the properly motivated would shift through. For instance, there’s a drawing (sketch) of the phone’s back that informs the FCC ID placement and gives a glimpse of the S8 Active’s overall design.
All expected to see with the phone is it sports a 5.8-inch flat AMOLED display instead of the gorgeous Infinity Display found on S8 flag. As this is a rugged device, the hardware will have a larger battery than of on the Galaxy S8. Running Android 7.0 (Nougat), the phone is said to be powered by the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC and paired with 4GB of RAM. Other specifications include a built to the MIL-STD-810G for extra durability.
Rest of the features and inclusions would settle with IP68 dust-and-water resistance. Shaping up to be another AT&T exclusive like its predecessors, the Galaxy S8 Active should have similar specs as the US variant of the plain S8, including the 12MP primary camera. And also, the FCC image shows AT&T logo at the lower back of the phone.
Stay tuned for pricing info and release date in the US carrier and more should be announced very near.
