Huawei Mate 8 Is Now Official: Announced With 6-inch 1080p Display, Android 6.0, Fingerprint Sensor

As expected, Huawei has introduced the Mate 8 smartphone to the world as the company’s latest Mate flagship integrated with adavanced features.  First one from the Chinese manufacturer that, the Mate 8 is equipped with Kirin 950 SoC with octa-core CPU with IntelliSense i5 sensor hub and Mali T880MP4 GPU. Sports a 6-inch FHD IPS display with 2.7mm ultra narrow frame, 83% screen-to-body ratio and 2.5D glass. The HiSilicon SoC is manufactured using TSMC’s 16 nm FinFET process.

The Mate 8 also comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor which increases the area by 10% compared to square sensor and identifies speed that has also been optimized. With the chip-level encryption technology and SD card lock to protect the hardware info.

The daul-SIM (Hybrid) on Mate 8 allow customers use the secondary SIM slot as an expandable microSD card and it is fully supported by 4G LTE connectivity options include voLTE bands as well. Color options include Champagne Gold, Moonlight Silver, Space Gray, and Mocha Brown. On the software end, the Mate 8 offers features including voice controls, a power-saving firewall, a defragmenter, and eRecovery and WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz/5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS, NFC by packing a 4000mAh battery.

The Huawei Mate 8 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the company’s Emotion UI 4.0 skin on top and out of the box. Interestingly, it flaunts with a 16-megapixel rear camera powered by Sony IMX298 sensor, dual-tone LED flash, phase detection suto-focus (PDAF), Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and more importantly uses Huawei’s own ISP technology to produce best photographs. It also implemented with an 8-megapixel forward-facing cam to beautify selfies with f/2.4 aperture.

The China Unicorn Huawei Mate 8 with 3GB RAM + 32GB on-board storage is priced at 2999 yuan (US$ 469). Standard 4G version costs 3199 Yuan (US$500). The 4G RAM variant plus 64GB of memory costs 3699 Yuan (US$ 579) and for 128GB Mate 8 you will need to pay around 4399 Yuan (US$688).

You can now pre-order Mate 8 through vmall in China, will go on sale starting from December 9th. The international availability details will be announced at CES in January next year.
