Became past and today according to the source, DataWind is all set to launch three new LTE smartphones in India before Diwali, offering them with free 4G internet access for a year, that’s what called bucket of gifts for users. Here are the details.
After launching a range of low-specced and ultra-cost tablets, DataWind is now gearing up to compete with Reliance Jio and LYF smartphones. Announced that it will soon be introducing three new 4G LTE-based smartphones in India by next month arund the crackers festive season. Apart from the key features, these smartphones are also priced under or between Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 5,000.
To remind you, DataWind although has a handful of smartphones under its portfolio with a starting price for Rs. 1500. The new smartphones coming from DataWind will be somewhat budget-friendly, and the cheapest one will receive a 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The second phone will be slightly more hyped with 2GB RAM and 16GB of onboard memory and the final third one will be the top-end smartphone, that will come with 3GB RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. No other details regarding the display size and resolution, camera sensor, battery capacity and which operating system it would be using is unknown at the moment.
One thing is accurate, that these handset will be manufactured in DataWind’s Hyderabad and Amritsar plans, and the company also expecting to make 10% margin from the sales. For a virtual network operator licence, DataWind has also applied to sweeten the deal, where it offers its smartphone users with cheap internet access for surfing and browsing if they buy the DataWind’s SIM cards.
“We shall offer internet browsing for one year free of cost on our 4G handset,” Datawind CEO, Suneet Singh Tuli told PTI.
Others will also be offered unlimited internet access for just Rs. 99 per year. However, there are no details on the network which the company will be colaborating with to use other internet data – 2G, 3G & 4G.
It seems like DataWind eventually targeting the first-line buyers, and connect the unconnected to the internet with their 1 year free 4G LTE internet access.
Now that the Reliance JIO had blown the smartphone market with its LYF-range of handsets, started offering free Jio SIM cards. The price-range for those Reliance LYF phones starts at Rs. 2999 and goes all the way till Rs. 19,999. All these smartphones support 4G LTE with VoLTE for HD voice calling. And also offered the ‘Jio Preview’ where the company was pushing unlimited voice and video calls, unlimited SMS text messages, high-speed internet and also giving access to content services like Live TV channels, Music streaming, on-demand movies and much more.
