For iPhone customers in the United States, AT&T has finally rolled out its native Wi-Fi calling feature on certain smartphones with eligible plans that are running iOS 9 to help inviduals make calls when call service is limited.
Complemented to AT&T Wi-Fi Calling on their iPhones which is already a great network coverage that’s more than 99% of all customers. Although the customers have received tips who were able to activate AT&T Wi-Fi calling and our friend in the US has been able to activate the feature on his own iPhone 6s. Successfully done the job.
What is the use of AT&T Wi-Fi Calling? It is one of the best inclusion that lets calls be placed over a wireless connection when cellular connectivity is poor, functioning much like an AT&T M-Cell currently does. Now that, it’s similar to Apple’s own FaceTime Audio feature, which also routes calls over a Wi-Fi connection.

So those able to make it a real jump, AT&T Wi-Fi Calling can be used for voice calls within the United States, Puerto Rico, and United States Virgin Islands at no charge. Long distance global roaming voice calls will be charged at standard long distance rates, that you have to note.
Once the AT&T Wi-Fi Calling setup is completed, customers will be receiving notifications letting them know the feature will be available after a short activation period.
How to enable AT&T Wi-Fi Calling on iOS 9:
- Launch the settings app
- Scroll down and select Phone from the list of options. (You can also search the Settings app for Wi-Fi Calling if you so desire.)
- Select Wi-Fi calling from the top of the list.
- Slide the Wi-Fi calling switch to the On position.
The biggest warning is in regard to emergency services. You’ll also be asked to verify the address where you plan on primary using Wi-Fi calling, again, for emergency purposes. After all the process completion, it will take an hour for the “Wi-Fi” indicator to show up next to the carrier name atop my device.
Wi-Fi Calling is a complement to AT&T’s already great network coverage. Along with a network that covers more than 99 percent of all Americans, our customers now have an option for making calls in areas where a cellular signal is tough to get – such as a home or office with dense building construction.
Once set-up, your phone will use Wi-Fi Calling automatically in places where you have limited or no cell signal, but you do have a Wi-Fi Internet connection.
In order to use Wi-Fi Calling, customers just need a compatible device with iOS 9 installed, a postpaid wireless account set-up for HD Voice and a Wi-Fi Internet connection. This includes a Wi-Fi connection set up at home or the office.
