iOS 11.3.1 Release Notes, Changes, Security Content Detailed

Here’s what is new in the latest iOS 11.3.1 firmware released propagating through Apple’s servers and onto user’s devices around the world. Those of you iPhone, iPad or iPod touch device owners have actually already installed it and are getting to grips with all of the changes contained therein.

For users who are using this for the first time, should know what iOS 11.3.1 includes? We’ve got those details for you, right from the horse’s mouth.

As this is not a developer or a public beta download, rather iOS 11.3.1 is available over-the-air, and can manually get IPSW links to install via iTunes. We have to make sure that the new iOS 11.3.1 update is released as a relatively minor bug or security fix but its immediate availability has managed to blindside a lot of people. It comes ahead of iOS 11.4 beta 3 for developers and testers enrolled themselves onto Apple’s Software Beta Program.

The official iOS 11.3.1 release notes say about it, which has been pulled from Apple, are as follows:

iOS 11.3.1 improves the security of your iPhone or iPad and addresses an issue where touch input was unresponsive on some iPhone 8 devices because they were serviced with non-genuine replacement displays.

Note: Non-genuine replacement displays may have compromised visual quality and may fail to work correctly. Apple-certified screen repairs are performed by trusted experts who use genuine Apple parts. See for more information.

Apple isn’t in the particularly verbose mood and doesn’t want to go into huge particulars about what iOS 11.3.1 contains other than to say that it has fixes for those device owners who have chosen to have a non-official screen put onto their device.

As you can tell from the release notes below. Apple has also provided a direct link to a dedicated security content document pertaining to this release, which can be found at knowledge section HT201222 on the section of its website and references fixes for bugs found in WebKit by Ivan Fratric of Google’s Project Zero, amongst others. If you have a comprehensive device, make sure you grab iOS 11.3.1 right now.
