OnePlus announced earlier this week that it would be unveiling the company’s flagship smartphone on June 20, which was a great news report got excited to see what the manufacturer would come up with. But also the company has shared a new teaser as a render, shows up everything about the next handset’s design. What is reveals is a device that is somewhat looks like a clone of Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus. Here are the details.
All it turns out, with more leaks beginning to pop up, OnePlus instead decided to start to offer a little glimpse of what the new phone will look like. So we got here, the Android-powered OnePlus 5.
It was a 24 hours back we have received the first glimpse of the said phone by OnePlus which seems like it already on the market though, and one that is certainly very well and regarded. When you point out at the glimpse of OnePlus 5 will tell you that this is a design that is very familiar, similar to the iPhone currently on sale in phone shops and Apple Stores the world over.
As you will see from images released by OnePlus, the new device carries many of the design traits that we have become accustomed to with the iPhone 7 Plus.
That apparently includes the svelte, pill-like design that adds a rear panel with a camera aperture, flash and microphone area that could well be taken straight off of one of Apple’s product runs at a Foxconn plant.
In fact the main asset the phone uses is the same dual-lens camera setup, even the same protrusion, antenna lines in same location, and of course the color from the iPhone 7 Plus. Only difference between OnePlus 5 design and iPhone 7 Plus would be the Apple logo has been replaced by one better depicting OnePlus’ ownership of the phone.
Things like this is not surprising though. There are only so many different ways to design a smartphone that is essential a glass screen with a touch-sensing mechanism underneath. Still, OnePlus cannot argue that this design is even remotely its own, and that for us is a shame.
OnePlus fans, the company is holding the phone’s launch event on June 20th, following which, we will have more information on the internals of the device. Unconfirmed pricing info and exact US and UK release date/shipping follows thereafter.
