With Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ set to be announced in the next two or three months, as the company’s latest flagship smartphones. With CES and MWC kicking 2018 off, there is plenty to look forward to the initial throws of 2018. Now that a string of leaks relating to those Galaxy S9+ has surfaced – the latest of which is Geekbench scores again for what appears to be the latest Samsung handset yet.
The Geekbench scores appear to be for a Galaxy S9+ with latest Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 beating within it. The scores that are produced as being shown would make this the fastest smartphone to come out of Samsung yet. But not quite put it into the same sky-high numbers that the iPhone X powered by Apple’s A11 Bionic chip is capable of.
According to stats posted on Geekbench, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ should be capable of over 2400 points in single-core tests and over 8000 in multi-core. When compared! Both of those scores are records as far as Samsung phones are concerned, which are not even close to the iPhone X which manages to score 4000+ in single-core tests and exceed 10000+ in multi-core results.
Geekbench listing of the Galaxy S9+ with a model number SM-G965U confirms Snapdragon 845 SoC, 6GB of RAM and Android 8.0 Oreo onboard. Renders from case maker Olixar also revealed the design of both the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+.
Regardless of whether the 2018 Galaxy S9 can match Apple’s 2017 finest, What this does show is that the likes of Qualcomm still have some catching up to do before they can provide silicon that can compete with the very best that Apple has to offer, like the A11 Bionic chip that powered the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the popular iPhone X.
Update x1: The renders for the Galaxy S9+ shows dual rear cameras on the back and a single rear camera for the Galaxy S9. It also confirms fingerprint scanner placement below the camera setup.
The display size for the Galaxy S9 will be a 5.8 and the Galaxy S9+ of 6.2-inch curved-edge Super AMOLED Infinity Display. International variants will be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 9 series 9810 processors depending on the region, packing a 64GB internal storage and a dedicated microSD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack as well as AKG stereo speakers.
