iOS 11.3.1 Jailbreak With Cydia Onboard Gets A New Video Demo

Developer and security researcher Ming Zheng has once again shown off his technical prowess and proficiency by demonstrating a video showcasing an iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak, complete with Cydia installed, in action.

However, the jailbreak community is an extremely interesting place. As always been the case, it seems that there is often a significant period of non-activity before an explosion takes place and everything starts to come together.

This appears to have happened exactly again, with Ming Zheng taking the lead by first of all sharing the fact that he had managed to liberate iOS 11.3.1 from Apple’s walled garden, and now, showing off a video of just created jailbreak in action with Cydia running on the device.

On the back of his original tweet, Electra developer CoolStar decided to get involved in the action, too. Suggesting that device owners should stay on their current firmware if they were currently running a device on iOS 11.2-11.2.6. Everyone in the community took this as a hint that they would be working toward releasing an update to the Electra Jailbreak to support those firmware versions.

In fact, CoolStar may be working on that behind the scenes, but its’ Alibaba’s developer who has drawn first blood by showing off an iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak on video. Although like previous endeavors, this jailbreak tool may never be made available to the public. Zheng previously showed off the same exploit working on iOS 11.3.

Interestingly, the security researcher isn’t the first individual to successfully jailbreak iOS 11.3.1 either. The extremely talented security team at Keen Security Labs have already confirmed that they had managed to jailbreak iOS 11.3.1 prior to this video upload going into the public domain.

We’ll keep you updated on all things jailbreak as and when they happen. Stay tuned for more.
