Google has officially took the wraps off its latest flagship smartphone Pixel. Announced it at the event in San Fransisco. Here is everything you need to know about.
The new Google phones, rather using the Nexus branding, this time around the search giant introduced the world to its Pixel smartphone, which is the first device to be marketed as self-branded phones under just the Google brand. Google is working with HTC as a manufacturing partner to accelerate the devices out.
Introduced Pixel brand, Phone by Google has entirely designed different and has been manufactured by the Taiwan-based firm HTC. With its Pixel line, Google is truly focusing on elements such as photography, communications and even virtual reality to shows up the pixel as a smart device that is not just your run-of-the-mill high-end Android device with upgraded hardware specs. As expected, Google has launched the two phones ‘Pixel’ and the ‘Pixel XL’ with exactly the same features and hardware keys barring a crucial display and screen real-estate difference.
Google Pixel Specifications
The Pixel smartphone has a 5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixel screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. You will find a quad-core 64-bit processor of the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 variety, clocked at 2.15GHz CPU with Adreno 530 GPU on-board. The SoC is accompanied by 4GB of RAM.
On the photography front, the Pixel smartphone carries a rear-facing 12.3-megapixel camera, LED flash, Sony IMX 378 sensor and that’s the range of Google right now “featuring an f/2.0 aperture and big 1.55 micron pixels to capture lots and lots of light.” There’s a Smartburst feature which allows you to take sequential shots so that you can eventually choose the best shot later, and also there is a feature called Lens Blur. With this Lens Blur you can really “achieve shallow depth of field and bokeh effects, making your subject pop.” No, there is no such OIS hardware in the new phones, Google is using gryoscope and some tricks to apparently re-generate same results for stability. Now that, the Pixel phone’s front-facing camera sports an 8-megapixel sensor.
On the connectivity front, the Google Pixel phone offers Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi, 4G VoLTE, and also features NFC and an embedded fingerprint scanner on the back for biometric authentication. Don’t miss, there’s still USB-C as you must’ve expected by now, and has equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack finally.
The smaller 5″ Pixel smartphone comes with an integrated 2770mAh battery pack. Nevertheless, there isn’t any fast charging with Google boasting that 15 minutes charge can provide 7 hours of up time. Are the two Pixel and Pixel XL phones are water-resistant?
Nope! Both Pixel and Pixel XL are far away from water resistant. Storage options includes 32GB and 128GB with no expandable option further via microSD card. Google is offering free full unlimited backup of photos and videos in original quality to Google Photos exclusively for Pixel owners.
On the Software front, Pixel is running Android 7.1 Nougat OS with Google Assistant right-out-of-the-box. Also said that the Pixel range will be supported with latest Android software updates for up to two years.

Owners of Pixel phones will be able to choose from one of three exterior finishes. f Apple offering Gold, Rose Gold, Jet Black, Silver and Black, Google is taking a different route by issuing the Pixel range in Quite Black, Really Blue, and Very Silver. Don’t mind, those names are that Google has assigned to the device finishes.

The entry-level Pixel model in the United States goes up from $649 for 32GB model, $749 for 128GB variant. Pixel XL starts from $769 for 32GB and $869 for 128GB.
The Pixel and Pixe XL are available for pre-order today, with Google choosing Verizon as its exclusive partner in the U.S. Unlocked models are available directly from Google Store at store.google.com as well. Project Fi subscribers will also be able to buy the hardware in a simple manner.
Customers in the United States, UK, Australia and Canada are able to pre-order the devices today with those in India able to order it on October 13th. On Flipkart, Google Pixel will go live on sale at Rs. 57,000 respectively. You can also get it from Reliance Digital, Croma and other stores offline.
