Micromax Canvas 5 With LTE Support Launched At Rs 11999

Micromax has launched fifth Canvas series smartphone in India and the much-awaited Canvas 5 is the latest flagship. It was Canvas Sliver 5, and Express promises improvements over the Canvas 4 that apparently saw some negativity regarding its build quality and camera performance.

The Canvas 5 as it predecessor poses with similar specs but improved where it needed to. The Micromax Canvas has now equipped with a powerful and larger battery, and has upgraded the overall design that feels like a business phone in your hand. The handset has a removable plastic back panel, which has a leather feel to it. The front glass joins the curved edge that has a matt finish giving the phone a sleek appearance and at 8.5mm thickness, the hardware is quite slim.

The Canvas 5 does offer a full-HD 5.2-inch 1080p 2.5D curved screen with slim bezels, with 480ppi. Coupled with 3G of RAM, is powered by a  1.3GHz octa core MediaTek MT6753 ARM Cortex-A53 chipset with Mali-T720 GPU. Includes 16GB internal storage and expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.

The dual-SIM Canvas phone has support for 4G that offers both TDD-LTE Band 40 (2300MHz) and FDD-LTE Band 3 (1800MHz) for India. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and upgradable to 6.0 Marshmallow. It has metal frame and leather-like back cover and is backed by a 2900mAh battery and uses Content Adaptive Backlight Control (CABC) to manage power and adjust the image being displayed to look brighter.

The Canvas 5 sports with a 13MP rear camera with LED Flash, Samsung 3M2 sensor, PDAF and a 5-megapixel selfie snapper. It also integrated with Video Pop-Out inclusion and Smart Wake Gestures.

The Micromax Canvas 5 is priced at Rs. 11,999 and is available starting today in Space Grey and Tan Brown colors. Airtel also has a double data offer for 4G customers for 3 months and 7 day door step service policy if you purchase the device from an Airtel showroom.

Notably, Micromax has also tied with Bajaj Finance to run a 12 month EMI scheme – consumers will have to pay four advance EMIs at the time of its purchase. At launch,  Vineet Taneja, CEO, Micromax Informatics, said:
