It seems like Nokia 8 hopes to beat Apple and Samsung with ‘bothie’ camera system, a new version of the selfie. Here are the details.
HMD Global, the Finnish company that licensed the rights to produce Nokia smartphones. The company is now all-set in revealing its first Nokia-branded Android flagship phone today.
Features And Specifications
For Nokia 8, the much-rumored, 2017 Android flagship of HMD Global has been officially unveiled in London. The new Nokia 8 will be available in early September across Europe, priced at 599 euros ($705).
As we saw with the leaks, the Nokia 8 has a 5.3-inch display (2560 x 1440). Under-the-hood it the Nokia 8 phone powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage.
HMD offers camera tricks instead of superior design
Nokia 8 smartphone is the first product that has developed under the ambit of the Carl Ziess partnership. It now becomes the main highlight of the newly announced Nokia 8. Its dual-cameras offer two 13-megapixel f/2.0 RGB and monochrome sensors on back. Up front, a single 13MP selfie shooter.
With both sensors, the Camera app on the Nokia 8 will let you stream these ‘bothies’ as full-HD live videos. So you can share live video to Facebook and YouTube. HMD says it worked closely with Qualcomm to enable Dual-Sight video streaming on the device. Though minimising the thermal impact of the processing required to do so.
The dual cameras on Nokia 8 are capable of recording 4K video on their own. The rear camera comes with laser autofocus and dual-tone LED flash.
The Nokia 8 gets a unibody 6000-series aluminum design. The smartphone will be available in glossy Polished Copper and Polished Blue colors. There’s still matte Tempared Blue and Steel finishes. The phone is just 4.6mm thick at the edges, and 7.9mm thick at the height of its camera module.
Nokia 8: Software & Other Details
The phone will release in a single SIM and hybrid dual-SIM options, depending upon the markets. It is promised to get Android O later this year once the phone goes live on sale. But at launch, Nokia 8 will ship with Android 7.1.1 Nougat withh monthly security updates out-of-the-box.
It comes with support for a dedicated microSD cards of up to 256GB capacity. It has a battery package of 3090mAh unit.
Nokia 8: Display
The Nokia 8 features a 5.3-inch 2K LCD display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It features USB 3.1 Type-C port as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The smartphone comes with high dynamic range microphones, which enables it to record surround sound using Nokia OZO Audio Algorithms. Its software encoding will preserve the virtual surround sound even when users share these videos on social media.
The Nokia Ozo spatial 360-degree audio uses the phone’s 3 microphones to capture sound to allow playback on the Nokia 8. The phone’s Daul-Sight streaming and Ozo Audio recording features will be available only via the stock Camera app. And won’t opened up to third-party apps.
